It is appropriate that our first blog is from the Democratic National Convention, not because it is political or partisan, indeed, in spite of that. It is because this is a week about hope and about the possibilities. Conversations are filled with discussions of what will be possible with Barack Obama as president -- new policies, new business opportunities, new models for our communities, for bringing jobs back to the parts of America that have lost so many due to outsourcing or the energy crisis. In our work at CGS, we build new models, new visions for businesses and investors, for companies, philanthropists, and for governments. And this week, we are in Denver to support the development of a new model for new leadership here in America.
Senator Ted Kennedy reminded us last night that when President John F Kennedy challenged the nation to put a man on the moon within 10 years, he did not ask how, he did not worry about the difficulty. He believed in America, he set a goal, and America beat it.
During World War II, America sacrificed and retooled our economy to focus on the crisis at hand. We came together and did what needed to be done. Now we have a crisis, but we also have a great opportunity. To build the new energy future, lowering prices, creating new jobs, cleaning our air, making our communities healthy, and solving global warming.
We once again need a leader who believes in America and invests in America and we can meet our energy challenges, and in the process capitalize on the greatest opportunity we have ever had.
